Generative artificial intelligence is beginning to make a significant economic impact. According to Mira Maruti (Chief Technology Officer at OpenAI Inc., speaking at Singapore’s Asia Tech X conference via video), she highlighted that how the latest advancement in AI, particularly OpenAI’s GPT-4o model are transforming various industries.
The GPT-4o model by OpenAI, which assists the users in generating content such as text, presentations and videos is becoming more intuitive.
Maruti emphasized that people are using AI tools for various tasks such as coding, writing and more.
She said” We don’t quite realise the impact that this is going to have in businesses and at work because it is just starting. But what we’ve seen so far is that over a very short period of time, these AI systems have entered the work force as collaborators.”
OpenAI is not alone in the AI race. It faces intense competition from major tech players like Alphabet Inc. Google’s, Meta Platforms Inc. and Elon Musk’s xAI. But despite of this fierce competition, she views it positively, stating that it could drive higher standards for safety and innovation in AI development.
Maruti said” AI development is extremely competitive right now, competition can actually be really good as long as it’s a competition to the top safety and people don’t cut corners.”
As AI systems like GPT-4o becoming more prevalent, they are expected to act as a collaborators rather than mere tools. This shift could lead to more efficient workflows, enhanced productivity and new ways of tackling complex tasks.
